Send 2016 out in a blaze at the Happy Place Festival which runs Dec. 30 and 31 at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville.
The concert and visual arts event, which promoters describe on the Happy Place Facebook page as having a “cannabis accent,” will be headlined by rapper Action Bronson, who just spoke on a panel about the business of weed at ComplexCon in Long Beach, and reggae alt-rock band the Dirty Heads. Other performers already announced include producer and DJ 12th Planet and rapper The Alchemist. More marijuana-loving artists are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
If you grow your own, there’s also a cannabis competition in which $420 gets you a competitor pass, because of course that’s the amount. The competitor pass includes getting your herb tested by a lab and if you want to submit more, additional entries are $200 each. The races are for the best in the flower, solvent, non-solvent, edible and vape cartridge categories.
Until Nov. 30, general admission tickets are $40 for Dec. 30; $50 for Dec. 31 and $75 for both, before fees. VIP passes are $150 and $250, before fees, until Nov. 30. There are other higher-end packages, which include extra goodies, that start at $370 and go up to $610, before fees.
RV camping runs $350-$600, before fees, but day parking is $20 per day.
Happy Place is also holding a pre-party on Dec. 29, but some of the VIP packages also include them. Tickets for the pre-party on its own are $20 each, before fees.
You must be 18 or older to attend, but if you want to go to the medicating area, you have to have a valid California recommendation.
Check out the FAQ for all of the details on what is and isn’t allowed, but yes, you can bring your water pipe with you. However, leave your tiki torch at home.
