Whether you’re heading out for a party this weekend or just passing out candy on Tuesday night, it’s time to nail down that Halloween costume.

Need some inspiration? There are a growing number of off-the-shelf costumes just for stoners, from this big bag of weed to this creepy pot leaf mask. But we’ve got ideas for some DIY costumes that will also let you quietly or boldly declare your love for cannabis this “Halloweed.”

Favorite weed-loving celebrities

Bob Marley: Dressing like the father of ganja culture can be as simple as picking up a wig with dreadlocks, or you can go all out by adding an African tunic and strapping on a guitar.

Hunter S. Thompson: Yellow aviators, a white bucket hat, a flashy shirt and something to smoke sell this one. Bonus points for the suitcase.

Willie Nelson: Keep it simple with two long braids, a red bandana or cowboy hat and a t-shirt. Step it up with facial hair and a guitar.

Miley Cyrus: Sure, she recently said she’s given up smoking. But this pop princess long openly spoke of her love for marijuana, and her outrageous outfits just make for fun Halloween costumes.

Snoop and Martha: Calling all couples! This unlikely duo would make for an easy DIY, with some cornrows and chains for him then a blond bob and pearls for her.

Best stoner movie or TV characters

The Dude from The Big Lebowski: The tan bathrobe is key to nailing this cult classic. Add the wig, dark sunglasses, some facial hair and a white Russian to round out the look.

Half Baked crew: Go it alone as Brian from this ’90s stoner comedy, with a tie-dyed shirt, fanny pack and sandals. Or make it a couple costume by picking up blue coveralls for Thurgood.

Ron Slater from Dazed and Confused: A brown wig, backwards newsboy cap and pot leaf t-shirt will do the trick here. Oh, and don’t forget to squint.

Cheech and Chong: Cheech needs a denim shirt, a full brown beard and a red bandana over messy hair. Chong needs a red beanie, red suspenders over a yellow tank-top, tan pants and that mustache.

Broad City: There are far two few lady stoners on the silver or small screen. Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson to the rescue with their Comedy Central show. And you can nail this duo with a quick trip to the thrift store.

Put a 420 spin on it

420 fairy: Tinkerbell and other fairy costumes are already green. Add some subtle pot leafs to the wings or wand. Better yet, if you’re 21 or older, carry an ounce or less of actual cannabis around to give away to other consenting adults.

Sativa superhero: Make some tweaks to a Green Lantern costume. Or dress all in green, add a green cape and a green mask, and you’re good to go!

Weed Brownie: Have an old Brownie costume laying around? Add some pot leaf “patches” and you’re got a clever spin on a stoner staple. Or make your own sash like this Instagrammer.

Medical marijuana doctor: This one can be as simple as getting a stethoscope and some scrubs, then slapping on a patch that says “Green Doctors” or some other cannabis-friendly name.

Pot protestor: Get political by making a pro-legalization sign. Keep your clothing simple, or add some cannabis accessories to the mix like these real-life demonstrators.
