Humboldt County Cup: Marijuana competition's award winners

Close to 100 cannabis strains, concentrates, topicals and edibles vied to secure top prizes at the Humboldt County Cup marijuana competition in Southern Humboldt County on Saturday, but only a fraction would come away with a trophy.

A panel of judges gathered Saturday at the Mateel Community Center in Redway to sample a variety of sativas, indicas, CBD concentrates, THC concentrates, and topicals entered by producers throughout the Emerald Triangle. The entries were judged based on sensory categories that included sight, touch, taste, smell and effect.

The Humboldt County-based Emerald Genetics took away the most trophies having won 12 awards followed by Emerald Family Farms of Humboldt County, which took home five awards.
